Tottenham Liverpool prediction 2024-12-22

Tottenham vs Liverpool prediction: ENGLAND: Premier League betting tips on match 2024-12-21 16:30.
[p]Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool will face off at least four times this season after they were paired up during the week to face off in the two-legged semi-finals of the EFL Cup in early 2025. Spurs head coach Ange Postecoglou was full of praise for his side after they recorded a hard-fought 4-3 win over Manchester United in that competition on Thursday night despite no fewer than ten absences, hailing their back-to-back competitive victories as positively “ridiculous” given the circumstances. [/p]

[p]There’s no escaping that they’ll be undermanned for this meeting in which Tottenham are looking to record what would be just their third win from their last 24 Premier League games against Liverpool (D6, L15) after defeating the Reds 2-1 at home last term. Beating the odds here though appears unlikely based on how they’ve fared as underdogs throughout 2024/25, losing five of seven such matches (W2). [/p]

[p]Liverpool have won an astounding 20 out of 23 games as pre-match favourites in all competitions this season (D2, L1), the latest of which was a 2-1 EFL Cup win away to Southampton. Manager Arne Slot, who was strongly linked to Spurs during the summer of 2023, is unlikely to be taking this fixture lightly however just four weeks after he considered them to be title contenders alongside the Reds. [/p]

[p]Slot could have changed his mind since then, but he has some minor issues of his own to solve before being able to declare Liverpool back to their best. After winning four of their first five Premier League matches ‘to nil’ under the Dutchman, the Merseysiders have returned just three clean sheets from their next ten, though it hasn’t prevented them from remaining unbeaten in that ten-game period (W7, D3), despite falling behind in five of those encounters. [/p]

[p]Players to watch: Son Heung-min boasts the equal-most Premier League assists (68) of any Spurs player, but he may also be in the spotlight here after scoring in each of his last five appearances against Liverpool. Mohamed Salah needs one assist to become the first player in the division’s history to have registered at least ten goals and ten assists in a season before Christmas (currently G13, A9). [/p]

[p]Hot stat: Tottenham have lost nine of their last 11 Premier League matches against an opponent starting the day top of the table.[/p]
