Wolfsburg Dortmund prediction 2024-12-22

Wolfsburg vs Dortmund prediction: GERMANY: Bundesliga betting tips on match 2024-12-21 16:30.
[p]Two sides sat just outside the European qualification spots in the Bundesliga clash during the final matchday before Christmas, as Wolfsburg play host Borussia Dortmund. Out of the pair, it’s the hosts who should enter here in higher spirits as a return of four wins across their last five league fixtures (L1) has transformed their fortunes from potential relegation candidates to top six hopefuls. [/p]

[p]Their sole defeat since the beginning of November did come last time out against Freiburg (3-2), a result that will have manager Ralph HasenhĂĽttl desperately trying to help his side to avoid consecutive league losses for the first time since September here. That could be easier said than done, as the Wolves have won just two of their last 19 competitive H2Hs (D2, L15) though one of those did come in the DFB-Pokal on home soil back in late October (1-0).[/p]

[p]Although that form might suggest that an away win is highly likely, that certainly doesn’t seem to be the case with a look at Dortmund’s form over the past couple of weeks. A late equaliser for Hoffenheim last time out means that BVB are now winless in four outings overall (D3, L1), a run which has put significant pressure on manager Nuri Şahin as rumours about his future continue to swirl. [/p]

[p]In the Bundesliga, the former Dortmund midfielder has overseen his side’s joint-worst start to a top-flight in seven seasons, with their tally of 22 points across their opening 14 league fixtures their lowest at this stage since 2017/18. That poor form has been aided by their inability to grind  out results when ahead, as each of their last three league matches have seen them draw from leading positions, while no wins on the road this Bundesliga season (D2, L4) makes them questionable favourites for the game.[/p]

[p]Players to watch: Wolfsburg’s Mohamed Amoura is one of the Bundesliga’s most in-form stars this season, recording 12 goal contributions across as many games (G5, A7), including a goal and assist in his last home match against Mainz. Dortmund’s Serhou Guirassy may be enduring his joint-longest Bundesliga goal drought since returning to the league in 2022 (three matches), but against no side has he scored more competition goals than against Wolfsburg (six).  [/p]

[p]Hot stat: Ahead of the round, only Union Berlin have picked up more Bundesliga yellow cards than Wolfsburg this season (39).[/p]
