Las Palmas vs Espanyol prediction: SPAIN: LaLiga betting tips on match 2024-12-21 17:30.
[p]Las Palmas manager Diego MartĂnez is a coach-of-the-month nominee due to his team’s brilliant recent form, with the Canary Islanders currently unbeaten in their last four matches across all competitions (W3, D1) – a run which started when they incredibly won 2-1 at Barcelona. That upturn in form has seen them rise from 17th place in La Liga to 14th going into the weekend, with a four-point cushion to the relegation places easing pressure on a side that had failed to win any of their opening nine games this season!   [/p]
[p]MartĂnez’s overall record since he arrived midway through the campaign is extremely impressive (W7, D1, L2), but Las Palmas have been a mixed bag at home over the last few months. Since the end of August, they haven’t posted the same league result at Estadio de Gran Canaria consecutively (W2, D2, L3), so time will tell if they can now grab back-to-back top-flight wins on their own patch for the first time since last December, as they face an Espanyol side that they haven’t lost to at home since 1987/88 (W5, D3 since then)![/p]
[p]Contrastingly, Espanyol sit in 18th heading into the weekend and haven’t won at all so far this month (D2, L2), with the Barcelona-based outfit failing to score in three of those outings. Their defence hasn’t fared better either, having conceded more goals in La Liga (29) than any other side except Real Valladolid (34) this season after 17 matches. [/p]
[p]To make matters worse, Espanyol currently have the worst away record in the league, earning just one point from their eight such games this campaign, a run which includes defeats in their last six top-flight matches on their travels. That’s their worst record on the road in the division since they also lost six straight away encounters two seasons ago, though they managed to secure a 2-1 win to eventually end that streak![/p]
[p]Players to watch: A nominee for La Liga’s player of the month award for December, Sandro RamĂrez will look to keep his pre-Christmas form going after scoring three times across his last three appearances, goals which helped Los Amarillos to two successive victories. Espanyol’s Javi Puado scored in midweek, as well as grabbing a hat-trick in the most recent H2H in April 2021![/p]
[p]Hot streak: Each of Las Palmas’ last three wins have been by 2-1 scorelines.[/p]
