Brest Lyon prediction 2025-01-11

Brest vs Lyon prediction: FRANCE: Ligue 1 betting tips on match 2025-01-10 16:00.
[p]A disappointing 2-0 defeat at Angers last Sunday means that Brest head into this weekend’s Ligue 1 fixtures only four points above the bottom three. Despite this currently being a disappointing season domestically, the Pirates will be relieved that their next match is at home, where they have won their last two such games in France’s top-flight, having lost just twice at Stade Francis-Le Blé this term (W5, D1). [/p]

[p]Hopes may be raised further by the fact that their upcoming opponents Lyon, are a side they beat 1-0 at home last season. But given that Saturday’s visitors sit nine points above them, Brest might not be expecting that result to be replicated, with their eyes maybe peeled on some more winnable fixtures coming later in January against Rennes and Le Havre that could come to define their Ligue 1 campaign.[/p]

[p]Fifth-placed Lyon by contrast are well on course for their highest league finish in four seasons, having won six of their last seven games in all competitions (L1), although it remains to be seen if a ban on incoming transfers this month due to financial issues and the possible need for big-name departures in the window leads to a downturn in form.[/p]

[p]Les Gones will have fond memories of their last encounter against Brest, as a comeback from 3-1 down saw Lyon incredibly snatch victory beyond the 100th minute in April. That sort of late drama is not uncommon in games involving Pierre Sage’s men either, as six of their last seven matches have featured at least one goal in the 85th minute or later. [/p]

[p]Players to watch: Romain Del Castillo came through Lyon’s academy, but never quite made the grade in their first team, so will be looking to get one over on his old club after scoring twice against them in that 4-3 loss last season. Having netted in Lyon’s last four away trips, Georges Mikautadze will be high on confidence, although the Georgian’s last eight scoring appearances for club and country have only featured one clean sheet for his side on the day (W4, D2, L2). [/p]

[p]Hot stat: The half-time result has been replicated at full-time in seven of Lyon’s last nine away matches. [/p]
