Girona Sevilla prediction 2025-01-18

Girona vs Sevilla prediction: SPAIN: LaLiga betting tips on match 2025-01-17 13:00.
[p]Inconsistency has blighted Girona’s season so far, as they have failed to win more than two matches in a row in that time and currently sit eighth in La Liga, a far cry from the same stage in 2023/24, when they were second and 20 points better off. Undeterred by their slow start, manager Míchel has thrown down the gauntlet to his players by challenging them to qualify for Europe for just the second time in the club’s history. [/p]

[p]Recent signs suggest that the White and Reds might be getting back to something like their best form. A 1-0 success at Alavés immediately after the winter break means they have kept back-to-back clean sheets for the first time since September, while a run of three wins from their last four home league fixtures (L1), scoring 3+ goals in each victory, means Girona have moved within two points of the top six.[/p]

[p]History suggests they might be successful in this clash too, as opponents Sevilla have lost the last six H2Hs, including a 5-1 drubbing in last season’s corresponding fixture. Los Nervionenses also arrive in Catalonia having required a last-gasp equaliser to draw 1-1 against bottom club Valencia in their first league game of 2025, aided by new signing Rubén Vargas, who came on as a second-half substitute.[/p]

[p]That result extended their winless run to three matches in all competitions (D1, L2), while GarcĂa Pimienta’s side have also lost their last three away fixtures, conceding a whopping 12 goals in the process. Owing to that poor run, Sevilla sit 13th and face a possible third successive finish in the bottom half – something they have not done this century – while they could also suffer four consecutive defeats on the road for the first time since March 2023 on Saturday. [/p]

[p]Players to watch: Girona will hope that Abel Ruiz has brought his shooting boots, given that he has emerged victorious from the last 18 club games in which he has scored, including September’s reverse fixture (2-0). Six of Isaac Romero’s last seven goals for Sevilla have come before half-time, including goals in three successive matches either side of New Year.[/p]

[p]Hot stat: Ahead of this round, only one team in La Liga has scored more first-half goals at home than Girona’s ten.[/p]
