Rennes Strasbourg prediction 2025-02-02

Rennes vs Strasbourg prediction: FRANCE: Ligue 1 betting tips on match 2025-02-01 16:15.
[p]Two teams separated by ten points and in contrasting form meet on Sunday as Rennes, who begin this gameweek in 16th place, take on the upwardly mobile Strasbourg. Rennes have lost their last five in all competitions, all by a one-goal margin, but their Ligue 1 results have been poor for many months, losing 12 of their 18 fixtures (W4, D2) from matchday two onwards – the first of which was at Strasbourg (L 3-1). [/p]

[p]With relegation to the second tier after 31 successive seasons in Ligue 1 now a real possibility, Jorge Sampaoli was sacked as manager on Thursday. The Argentine was only appointed in mid-November but had a win record of just 30% and leaves Rennes as they look to avoid a third-straight top-flight defeat at Roazhon Park for the first time since the 2012/13 season.[/p]

[p]Historically, Rennes have been consistent in front of goal in home H2Hs, scoring in their last 17 meetings as hosts, but they have not won any of their last three games against Strasbourg at any venue, losing in March and August last year. Strasbourg also arrive in Brittany unbeaten in league and cup since the start of December (W6, D2) and targeting a fourth consecutive away match in Ligue 1 without defeat (W2, D1).[/p]

[p]Those results on the road contrast favourably with their previous 11 in the top flight (W0, D3, L8), with Liam Rosenior’s men earning an impressive draw at high-flying Marseille in their last away game. They then followed that up with two quickfire second-half goals to defeat Lille, another side above them in the table, so victory in Rennes would only fuel Strasbourg’s growing European ambitions.[/p]

[p]Players to watch: Amine Gouiri contributed to four goals (G3, A1) in his three H2Hs against Strasbourg during the 2022/23 season and he will be pushing for a start on Sunday after getting an assist and scoring from the bench across Rennes’ last two games. Emanuel Emegha was on target in August’s H2H and got the winner last weekend to make it five goals and an assist from his four starts in 2025![/p]

[p]Hot stat: Strasbourg have trailed at half-time in only two of their ten league away matches this season (W4, D4, L2).[/p]
