Lyon Reims prediction 2025-02-09

Lyon vs Reims prediction: FRANCE: Ligue 1 betting tips on match 2025-02-08 14:00.
[p]Sunday’s Ligue 1 action gets underway in Lyon, who are currently enduring their second-longest winless run (D5, L2) of this century. That has seen them lose ground in the race for Europe in addition to a Coupe de France elimination, which ultimately prompted the introduction of new boss Paulo Fonseca. After losing his first game in charge 3-2 in the Choc des Olympiques, he will hope for a more positive home debut.[/p]

[p]Returning home is sure to inspire confidence, with the club keeping as many clean sheets across their last six home league games (four – W4, D2) as they did in 17 prior. A third straight home league clean sheet would represent their best such run since 2017/18, although a visit from Reims could dash those hopes as Lyon’s win rate in this matchup (26% – W16, D18, L18) is their worst against any current Ligue 1 club.[/p]

[p]In a similar vein to their hosts, Reims travel here on the back of a tragic winless streak of league games (D5, L4) in what is now the longest active run of any side this season. In fact, one must look back to 2012/13 to find Reims’ last longer run of winless league outings in a single season, with that run including a 3-0 defeat here in Lyon. Now sailing perilously close to the drop zone, former assistant manager Samba Diawara has been tasked with steering the ship to safety. [/p]

[p]Diawara has previous history as caretaker boss, remaining unbeaten in his three games in charge following Will Still’s departure (W2, D1). Emulating his first stint in charge will be a great challenge, although he does take charge of a side that have picked up the majority of their points on the road whilst remaining unbeaten in two thirds of their away league games so far this season (W3, D3, L3). [/p]

[p]Players to watch: After scoring his 152nd Ligue 1 goal in the previous round, Lyon’s Alexandre Lacazette can join the top-20 all-time top scoring players in the league’s history with another this weekend. Jordan Siebatcheu returned to Reims after spending a number of years playing in Switzerland and Germany and the American striker will hope to replicate the goal he scored in his only away appearance against Lyon.[/p]

[p]Hot stat: Twelve of Reims’ last 15 away league games saw both teams score on the day (80%). [/p]
