Rennes PSG prediction 2025-03-08

Rennes vs PSG prediction: FRANCE: Ligue 1 betting tips on match 2025-03-07 16:00.
[p]Rennes’ season so far has largely been disappointing, but after two managerial sackings following the departure of several key players last summer, things are finally looking up for the Red and Blacks. They’ve won four of their last five Ligue 1 games since new boss Habib Beye was appointed in late January (L1), meaning that they face the division’s runaway leaders Paris Saint-Germain with relegation fears eased. [/p]

[p]Perhaps surprisingly, Rennes have been PSG’s greatest nemesis in terms of H2H league victories since Qatar Sports Investments took over the capital club in 2011 (W7, D4, L15), a record that includes winning three of the last five meetings at their Roazhon Park home (D1, L1). Whoever gets the opener here seemingly has a decent chance of grabbing all three points, as all five games to date under Beye’s stewardship have seen the victor keep a clean sheet.[/p]

[p]Another thing that will give Rennes hope is that, despite PSG being unbeaten in Ligue 1 this season (W19, D5), four of their five such draws have come directly after a UEFA Champions League outing. Luis Enrique’s men will be intent on bouncing back from their 1-0 midweek loss to Liverpool, as they aim to make it 37 successive top-flight away matches without defeat (W28, D8 currently) – a record in Europe’s top five leagues only inferior to AC Milan’s 38-game sequence between September 1991 and October 1993 across the history of the traditional top-five European leagues.[/p]

[p]PSG may have drawn a blank in midweek, but in Ligue 1 they tend to be deadly, scoring at least three times in four of their last five such matches. Enrique has also improved his side’s defence, as they’ve kept five clean sheets in their last nine encounters – as many as they had registered in their previous 19 matches. [/p]

[p]Players to watch: Lorenz Assignon scored and assisted in Rennes’ 4-0 thrashing of bottom-of-the-table Montpellier last Sunday – the first time he has done both those things in a Ligue 1 game since September 2023. Bradley Barcola netted twice against Rennes in the reverse fixture, taking his tally against them to three in his career – the joint-most he has scored against any opponent. [/p]

[p]Hot streak: None of Rennes’ last ten home games have ended in a draw. [/p]
