Denmark Portugal prediction 2025-03-20

Denmark vs Portugal prediction: EUROPE: UEFA Nations League – League A – Play Offs betting tips on match 2025-03-19 19:45.
[p]Denmark began their UEFA Nations League (UNL) campaign strongly, beating both Serbia and Switzerland 2-0, but limped into the quarter-finals after winning none of their subsequent group games (D2, L2). It means neither momentum nor history is with them as they prepare to try and make history, as a victory over two legs against Portugal would secure them a first-ever UNL finals appearance.[/p]

[p]These two former European champions have not faced each other since 2015, and the Red and Whites have often struggled in this fixture (W3, D2, L11), losing 1-0 the last time they hosted. That was back in 2014, and recent results on home soil have been much more promising, as defeat to Spain in November was their first loss in Denmark since June 2022 (W12, D1).[/p]

[p]Portugal’s journey to the last eight was much more assured (W4, D2), dropping points against only Scotland (D 0-0) and Croatia (D 1-1) en route to topping Group 1. They’re now potentially only 180 minutes away from reaching the finals for the first time since they won this competition in 2018/19. Chelsea-bound forward Geovany Quenda could debut here while at the other end of the scale, the evergreen Cristiano Ronaldo may make a world record-extending 218th international appearance![/p]

[p]His longevity is well illustrated by the fact that he played in a 4-2 friendly defeat in Copenhagen back in 2006 and as well as being UNL League A’s leading scorer this term (five goals) he’s been prominent as they’ve only ever lost one UNL away game (W5, D5)! Such a strong record might bolster Portuguese confidence as they’ve only been leading at the end of regulation time in one of their last six games on foreign soil (D4, L1 – 90 min).[/p]

[p]Players to watch: Both of Gustav Isaksen’s international goals came in Denmark’s last three games while four of his five strikes for Lazio this term arrived after the 75th minute. Pedro Neto was a late scorer in Portugal’s most recent victory (W 5-1 v Poland) and he has three goal contributions across his last five appearances for Chelsea (G1, A2).[/p]

[p]Hot stat: Over nine corners were awarded in five of Portugal’s last six UNL games.[/p]
