Tottenham vs Southampton prediction: ENGLAND: Premier League betting tips on match 2025-04-05 13:00.
[p]Tottenham look on course to finish in the bottom half of the Premier League this season after a pair of losses away to London neighbours Fulham (2-0) and Chelsea (1-0). Now manager Ange Postecoglou has every reason to take this meeting with basement boys Southampton seriously as reports suggest his job is under mounting scrutiny, with results needing to improve fast, especially with a crucial Europa League quarter-final against Eintracht Frankfurt on the horizon. [/p]
[p]Spurs have carved out a formidable history against Southampton in recent years, winning the reverse fixture 5-0 as part of four victories from the last seven H2Hs in this competition (D2, L1). Scoring in 15 consecutive Premier League home games against the Saints (W12, L3) may offer some hope to the home fans who will still be feeling the sting of 2-1 league losses at home to other relegation probables Ipswich and Leicester earlier in the campaign. [/p]
[p]With just their tenth opening goal of this Premier League season, Southampton earned a point against an in-form Crystal Palace that is more vital than it may appear at first glance. Whilst their relegation could be confirmed with as many as six rounds to play, courtesy of the 19-point gap to safety they held at the start of this round, Southampton can at least avoid registering the worst Premier League season in history (Derby County 11 points in 2007/08). [/p]
[p]That is a major motivation for manager Ivan Jurić who has seen some improvements in his side of late from a defensive standpoint, certainly when compared to a pair of 4-0 losses in late February.  But the scorer of three of their last five league goals, Paul Onuachu, is a fitness concern after limping off the pitch against Crystal Palace. [/p]
[p]Players to watch: Having directly contributed to 18 goals against Southampton (G11, A7), Tottenham’s Son Heung-min could match or even beat Mohamed Salah’s Premier League record for most goals/assists against a single opponent (G13, A6 v Manchester United). Onuachu’s absence could mean more minutes for Cameron Archer, whose five goals in all competitions this season include four after half-time. [/p]
[p]Hot streak: Tottenham are unbeaten in 14 consecutive league games against teams starting the matchday in 20th place (W11, D3). Â [/p]
