Lille vs Auxerre prediction: FRANCE: Ligue 1 betting tips on match 2025-04-19 13:00.
[p]After initially being one of the sides competing against PSG in the Ligue 1 title race, Lille have since fallen away and are now in a battle for a spot in next season’s UEFA Champions League. It’s their participation in that competition this term that arguably caused them to lose form in the French top flight in the first place, with the extra matches seemingly taking a toll on the squad as their competitive form since returning to UCL action in January has been patchy (W7, D1, L8). [/p]
[p]One of those seven wins came last weekend as Lille returned to winning ways with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Toulouse. That result should inspire belief ahead of a return to Stade Pierre-Mauroy, where they have tasted defeat just twice across their 14 Ligue 1 home outings this campaign (W9, D3) and a seven-match unbeaten Ligue 1 home record against Auxerre (W3, D4) should only reinforce that belief.[/p]
[p]Auxerre make the trip looking to break Lille’s resolve and are currently enjoying a four-game unbeaten away run (W2, D2). That positive sequence of results has certainly contributed to the visitors’ pre-round mid-table position, but with the European positions realistically out of reach, and Auxerre in no danger of facing the drop, they’re left in a strange position of effectively having very little to play for. [/p]
[p]Securing a first top-half Ligue 1 finish since 2010/11 remains a realistic goal for Auxerre, and those chances could take a boost on the road, where they’re unbeaten in four league games (W2, D2). Not since that aforementioned 2010/11 season have they posted a 5+ match unbeaten Ligue 1 away run, but with boss Christophe Pélissier winning none of his 11 managerial H2Hs against Lille boss Bruno Génésio (D2, L9), they may fall just short of replicating that run from 14 years ago.[/p]
[p]Players to watch: Benjamin AndrĂ© has assisted the opening goal inside 25 minutes across Lille’s last two games – he scored his only career goal against Auxerre inside five minutes. Lassine Sinayoko’s third strike of the season last weekend was not enough to prevent a 2-1 defeat to Lyon – his previous 11 goals all resulted in Auxerre wins. [/p]
[p]Hot stat: Lille have scored in 11 of their last 12 home league H2Hs. [/p]
