PSG vs Auxerre prediction: FRANCE: Ligue 1 betting tips on match 2025-05-16 19:00.
[p]Ligue 1 winners Paris Saint-Germain responded to their first two losses of the season by crushing bottom-of-the-table Montpellier 4-1 last weekend. They now only need to better Marseille and Monaco’s results on Saturday to register the first 20+ point margin by a title-winning side in the French top flight since they did so in 2015/16, but such a feat is likely to be a low priority with the capital club eyeing their upcoming Coupe de France and UEFA Champions League finals.[/p]
[p]Three points here would no doubt assist their preparations, but it’s by no means guaranteed after Auxerre held them to a goalless draw in December’s reverse fixture. Despite their dominance throughout the campaign too, PSG have kept just one clean sheet at the Parc des Princes in their last ten home league matches (W7, D2, L1), so they may once again be relying on their deadly attack to secure the points.[/p]
[p]After earning promotion from Ligue 2 at the end of last season, Auxerre should be delighted that they will finish no lower than 12th this term. It is certainly the case that Christophe Pélissier’s side have built their successful survival bid on strong home form, with 27 of their 42 points in 2024/25 collected at the Stade Abbé-Deschamps. [/p]
[p]A total of 15 points away from home so far this season certainly isn’t awful for a newly-promoted side (W4, D3, L9), particularly as they have collected ten points in their last five such games. That resurgence has also contributed to Auxerre boasting the joint-seventh most away goals scored this Ligue 1 season, and travelling supporters may be cautiously optimistic heading to Paris as their team won three of their last seven league trips to PSG (L4). [/p]
[p]Players to watch: Gonçalo Ramos’ first Ligue 1 hat-trick for PSG proved crucial against Montpellier last Saturday, with his last 17 competitive goals for the club coming after the 30th minute. Preferring to strike early, Gaëtan Perrin’s opener against Nantes last weekend was the ninth of his ten goals this season to have arrived before half-time.[/p]
[p]Hot streak: PSG didn’t concede inside the first 30 minutes in any of their last nine home matches. [/p]
