Inter Lazio prediction 2025-05-18

Inter vs Lazio prediction: ITALY: Serie A betting tips on match 2025-05-17 18:45.
[p]Inter Milan backed up progressing to the UEFA Champions League final by beating Torino 2-0 to keep their Serie A title defence alive. The Nerazzurri sit just one point adrift of leaders Napoli with two games remaining, but their Scudetto chase could be ended should they lose here against top four chasers Lazio and Napoli beat Parma. Recent H2H form backs the hosts here, with Inter winning four of the last five league meetings at the San Siro (D1).[/p]

[p]Boss Simone Inzaghi has already prevailed against his former side twice this season, dumping them out of the Coppa Italia in February after thumping them 6-0 in December’s reverse fixture. Inter can now do the league double over Lazio in Serie A for the first time since 2016/17 here, and a strong return of seven wins from their last eight home league games (L1) means the Inter fans should be confident that they can take the title race to the final day.[/p]

[p]The race for the top four is even tighter than the title battle in Serie A, with Lazio level on points with fourth-placed Juventus after the pair drew 1-1 last weekend. Just two points separate fourth and seventh in Serie A, so Lazio face the very real possibility of missing out on European football altogether for the first time since 2016/17 with a slip-up here.[/p]

[p]Head coach Marco Baroni would do well to not dwell on his personal record against Inter then (D1, L7), with his side conceding at least twice in all eight of those matches. Lazio have at least been strong on the road of late, winning each of their last three Serie A trips without conceding, and could now post four such victories in succession for the first time since November 2022.[/p]

[p]Players to watch: Marcus Thuram has never been beaten across his four career meetings with Lazio (W3, D1), scoring in all three wins, including both of this season’s H2Hs. Taty Castellanos could be primed to make an impact here since six of his last seven league goals came on the road, three of which were match openers.[/p]

[p]Hot stat: A total of 11 red cards were dished out in Lazio’s last 15 away league games.[/p]
