Real Sociedad Girona prediction 2025-05-18

Real Sociedad vs Girona prediction: SPAIN: LaLiga betting tips on match 2025-05-17 17:00.
[p]It’s been a similar tale of woe for both Real Sociedad and Girona this season in La Liga, who meet in the penultimate matchday of the 2024/25 campaign. Winless in six in La Liga (D2, L4), Sociedad have slipped into the bottom half of the table and have their hopes of European football all but evaporated, meaning next season looks likely to be the first since 2019/20 that they won’t be playing in Europe. [/p]

[p]A torrid campaign means the Basque club will now finish outside the top six for the first time since finishing ninth in the 2018/19 season. Some troublesome form at their Reale Arena stadium certainly hasn’t helped their cause, with only Valladolid and Las Palmas losing more home league games than Real Sociedad this term (8), and having failed to score in their last three La Liga home games, things could yet get worse here.[/p]

[p]The story of the season makes even grimmer reading for Girona who, after finishing in the UEFA Champions League spots for the first-ever time last campaign, will now only narrowly avoid the relegation places this term. They did at least grab a first away league triumph in eight attempts (D2, L5) in midweek to ensure there won’t be any late drama around their top-flight status. [/p]

[p]Shyness in front of goal has largely been behind their struggles on the road, with only Osasuna (14) scoring fewer away league goals than Girona (15) this term. This perhaps isn’t an ideal fixture in which they can improve that tally either having scored more than once in just two of the last ten H2Hs (W1, D6, L3), while they’ve never before won an away H2H (D4, L5).[/p]

[p]Players to watch: Scorer of Real Sociedad’s last goal, Mikel Oyarzabal scored the winner in the reverse fixture earlier this season – his side have won on six of his seven scoring appearances this season. Girona stalwart Cristhian Stuani scored the winner in his side’s latest away victory, meaning he’s scored in four of his last five games. [/p]

[p]Hot stat: All four of Girona’s away league wins this season have been accompanied by a clean sheet. [/p]
