Georgia U21 vs Portugal U21 prediction: EUROPE: Euro U21 betting tips on match 2025-06-16 16:00.
[p]Both of Georgia’s opening two games in the 2025 European U21 Championship have seen injury time goals, and while they were on the right end of a late winner against Poland in round one, they were on the receiving end against France on Saturday when they lost 3-2. That defeat was all the more heartbreaking as Georgia led 2-1 going into the 89th minute and would have already guaranteed safe passage to the knockouts had they held on.[/p]
[p]Despite those two late goals, Ramaz Svanadze’s side still have their fate in their own hands ahead of Tuesday’s Group C clash with Portugal. This is the second successive Euros in which the teams have met and it was Georgia who came out on top two years ago in Tbilisi, winning 2-0 on their way to finishing top of Group A, a result they’ll have to replicate here if they’re to progress as only a victory will be enough.[/p]
[p]Portugal were the other side to progress from that group in 2023, but they were unable to match their run to the final from the 2021 tournament and were instead eliminated by eventual winners England 1-0 in the last eight. Beginning this round top of Group C, the Esperanças will be desperate to retain first place, which they could potentially secure with as little as a point.[/p]
[p]After failing to keep a clean sheet in any of their six pre-tournament games, Portugal have recorded shut outs in both of their opening two Euro matches after thrashing Poland 5-0 on Saturday. With a 4-0 lead at half-time, Rui Jorge was able to rest key players by making three changes at the start of the second half, so they should be fresh as they look to post a second unbeaten group stage record from their last three Euro finals appearances.[/p]
[p]Players to watch: After coming off the bench and contributing to two goals (G1, A1) across the opening two games, Vasilios Gordeziani has a strong case for a start on Tuesday evening. Geovany Quenda was one of the players taken off at half-time in Portugal’s last game but he had already produced a scintillating performance with two goals and an assist![/p]
[p]Hot stat: Georgia have scored exactly two goals in four of their five Euro group stage games.[/p]
