Romania U21 Slovakia U21 prediction 2025-06-17

Romania U21 vs Slovakia U21 prediction: EUROPE: Euro U21 betting tips on match 2025-06-16 19:00.
[p]Romania were close to beating Spain in their second game of this year’s UEFA European U21 Championship only to concede twice after the 80th minute to go down 2-1, with those goals ending their hopes of reaching the quarter-finals. Giving both the Spaniards and Italy (L 1-0) a run for their money during this campaign will be of scant consolation to Daniel Pancu’s men, who have already been eliminated ahead of their clash with Slovakia.[/p]

[p]A tightly fought contest could therefore ensue here because neither side has really dominated the H2H stakes, although Slovakia won their most recent clash 4-3 in a friendly in June 2022. A winner either way would not be a surprise after defeat to Spain saw Romania’s run of matches without a draw stretch to ten (W6, L4) en route to a third consecutive group stage exit at the Euros.[/p]

[p]Slovakia have been unable to harness the advantage of playing at home during this tournament and will take no further part after this encounter following Saturday’s 1-0 defeat to Italy. They fell behind early and were unable to find a response, with that result extending a dismal run of form that has seen them fail to win any of their last seven fixtures (D2, L5).[/p]

[p]Like Romania, they also ran Spain close (3-2), but could still end their group campaign with nothing to show for their efforts – a far cry from coming fourth overall the last time they hosted this tournament back in 2000. Still, hopes will be high of getting something out of this one as the Little Falcons actually registered a higher xG than Italy (1.21 v 0.87), and they may be able to press home that advantage this time against inferior opposition.[/p]

[p]Players to watch: Louis Munteanu’s goal for Romania against Spain was his third across his last five appearances for club and country, two of which have arrived inside the opening 25 minutes. Tomáš Suslov looked sharp for Slovakia against Italy but was unable to add to two goal contributions (G1, A1) across his last four appearances for club or country.[/p]

[p]Hot stat: Four of Romania’s last five matches (W2, L3) have seen only one side get on the scoresheet – as have three of the last five H2Hs.[/p]
