Spain U21 Italy U21 prediction 2025-06-17

Spain U21 vs Italy U21 prediction: EUROPE: Euro U21 betting tips on match 2025-06-16 19:00.
[p]The two most successful teams in the history of the UEFA U21 European Championship, Spain and Italy (five titles each), became the first teams through to the 2025 quarter-finals after winning their first two matches in Group A. For the second edition in a row, Spain started their Euro campaign with consecutive wins to seal a spot in the knockouts for the seventh time in the last eight editions, and with each of the previous six seeing them reach at least the semi-finals, hopes are high for La Rojita to go clear on the title count.[/p]

[p]Their campaign hasn’t been without drama though, as Spain missed a first-half penalty and went a goal down before two strikes in the last five minutes of regular time saw them edge past Romania 2-1 on Saturday. Even their matchday one win over Slovakia (3-2) was courtesy of a 90th-minute goal, so Santi Denia’s men are keeping their supporters on the edge.[/p]

[p]Winning both of their matches by a 1-0 scoreline, Italy’s campaign has been relatively serene by contrast, and marks the first occasion that they have claimed maximum returns from their first two group matches of a Euro campaign since 2013. That edition saw Gli Azzurrini end their group assignments with a 1-1 draw and reach the final, only to lose out to Spain! [/p]

[p]That result forms part of six defeats across their last ten H2Hs (W2, D2), so Carmine Nunziata’s men have a challenge before a likely knockout tie against either Germany or England. Recent form suggests the Italians are going to be a tough nut to crack though, as they have lost just one of their last 12 matches (W7, D4), but a draw won’t suffice to win the group, as Italy are behind Spain on goals scored and will finish second if they fail to win. [/p]

[p]Players to watch: Mateo Joseph could provide some early calm as his last six U21 goals have come before half-time, with three serving as Spain’s last strike of the match. His Leeds United teammate Wilfried Gnonto assisted Italy’s last goal and has five contributions (G3, A2) in his last five matches for club and country.[/p]

[p]Hot stat: Italy scored exactly once in five of their last seven matches, including the last four.[/p]
