Cameroon Morocco prediction 2026-01-09

Cameroon vs Morocco prediction: AFRICA: Africa Cup of Nations – Play Offs betting tips on match 2026-01-08 19:00.
[p]Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) hosts and pre-tournament favourites Morocco face a tough challenge in the quarter-finals against a Cameroon side they’ve never beaten in this competition.[/p]

[p]Match News and Current Form[/p]

[p]Five-time AFCON winners Cameroon have overcome significant off-pitch adversity in the lead-up to this tournament to reach the quarter-finals, a stage they were last eliminated at in the 2010 edition. A 2-1 victory over South Africa in the Round of 16 continued a theme that’s seen the Indomitable Lions’ three wins at these finals arrive by a single-goal margin, but performances will likely have to improve if they’re to replicate their heroics from previous successful campaigns, one of which came on Moroccan soil in 1988.[/p]

[p]Morocco booked their place in the quarter-finals with a 1-0 victory over Tanzania, but boss Walid Regragui admitted he was far from happy with their performance. That’s indicative of the expectations on the Atlas Lions, who went all the way to the semi-finals of the 2022 FIFA World Cup and were last beaten by any side back in August (W19, D2). Success at AFCON has been far more fleeting with their only title coming back in 1976, while they were eliminated at this stage in both 2021 and 2017, last going beyond the last eight way back in 2004![/p]

[p]Head-to-Head History[/p]

[p]Morocco’s only two H2H victories over Cameroon have come in the last two meetings (D4, L7 prior). They’ve not faced each other at an AFCON finals since 1992, with Cameroon winning two of the prior three such games (D1).[/p]

[p]Hot Stats and Streaks[/p]

[p]None of Cameroon’s last 11 games produced over 3.5 goals.[/p]

[p]Cameroon have taken exactly three corners in two of their last three matches.[/p]

[p]Morocco are yet to concede before half-time in this tournament.[/p]

[p]Eleven of Morocco’s last 12 AFCON wins at the finals were accompanied by a clean sheet.[/p]

[p]Key Players to Watch and Missing Players[/p]

[p]Christian Kofane has scored in each of Cameroon’s last two games, with both strikes arriving inside the first ten minutes of the second half. Achraf Hakimi marked his first start since November with an assist against Tanzania, yet half of his six AFCON goal involvements (G3, A3) have come in games Morocco failed to win (W3, D2, L1).[/p]

[p]Cameroon’s Carlos Baleba and Darlin Yongwa are both doubts after coming off injured against South Africa, while Morocco’s Azzedine Ounahi has been ruled out of the rest of the tournament through injury.[/p]

[p]Betting Analysis[/p]

[p]With neither side in sparkling form, we’re siding with favourites Morocco to win and both teams to score given Cameroon’s quality in attacking areas.[/p]
