AC Ajaccio Lille prediction 2022-08-26

AC Ajaccio vs Lille prediction: FRANCE: Ligue 1 betting tips on match 2022-08-25 19:00.
Newcomers Ajaccio may have registered only one point after three Ligue 1 rounds, but there should be no reason to panic just yet, as they faced three likely European spot contenders in Lyon, Lens and Rennes. Although coach Olivier Pantaloni stated that facing big teams will allow his team to “play more freely”, Ajaccio now face another tough test against Lille, a side that has beaten the team from the Corsican capital in the last seven H2Hs!

Looking to extend their current six-game unbeaten run at Stade François Coty (W5, D1), the ACA will hope to rely on a backline that has not conceded over 1.5 goals here since April 2021. The H2H history isn’t on their side though, as their last home victory against Lille came way back in 1967 (D3, L7) so they will need to spring something of a surprise here!

Maybe this is a good time to face Lille though, who are likely still stunned by a 7-1 home trouncing against league leaders PSG last weekend – the club’s worst loss since 1957 – in which they conceded the joint-fastest goal in Ligue 1 history after just eight seconds of play! Wanting to allay any panic, coach Paulo Fonseca spoke positively afterwards and promised fans that they will “do better in the next game”.

Picking up results on the road hasn’t been easy for LOSC of late, with just one win across their last five Ligue 1 road trips (D2, L2). Combine that with Lille’s losses “to-nil” in their two top-flight away games against newly-promoted sides last season, and this game looks like a potential banana skin for the 2020/21 Ligue 1 Champions.

Key battle: Ajaccio may rely on veteran Romain Hamouma who has scored more goals against Lille than any other Ligue 1 club (G6). He’s up against Lille’s lucky charm Jonathan David, with the visitors unbeaten in 26 of 27 competitive games he’s scored in (W24, D2).

Hot stat: Ahead of the round, Ligue 1's average of 3.45 goals per game is the highest among the top five European leagues.
