AC Milan vs Venezia prediction: ITALY: Serie A betting tips on match 2024-09-13 18:45.
[p]It’s been a baptism of fire for new AC Milan manager Paulo Fonseca, who has so far presided over three Serie A games without victory since taking over in the summer (D2, L1). Were the Rossoneri to slip up against recently promoted Venezia this weekend, it would be just the second time in 65 years that the Italian giants had begun a league campaign by failing to win any of their first four matches. [/p]
[p]One of the reasons for Milan’s struggles is their porous defence, which has conceded goals at least twice in each of their last five Serie A encounters. The only time that they have let in more than one goal in more consecutive league outings was during an eight-game spell in the 1940s, so Fonseca may want to take inspiration from the club’s strong top-flight home record against Venezia, which has seen them lose just one of 13 H2Hs (W8, D4) at San Siro. [/p]
[p]Despite that one-sided head-to-head ledger and their unwanted place in the relegation zone, Venezia may be smelling blood. They’ll need to improve significantly having scored just once in the league (D1, L2) since returning to Serie A – in a 3-1 defeat to Lazio – which followed an early Coppa Italia exit at the hands of second-tier Brescia by the same scoreline. [/p]
[p]To compound matters, visiting head coach Eusebio Di Francesco has failed to win any of his last six personal career meetings with Milan (D1, L5), but interestingly, his team on the day has managed to score during each of his eight previous trips to San Siro in the dugout. The 55-year-old will hope that this game allows him to integrate more of Venezia’s 15 summer signings, including Inter loanee Franco Carboni, who will be eager to get one over on his parent club’s bitter rivals. [/p]
[p]Players to watch: After coming off the bench against Lazio to earn Milan a point, Rafael Leão has now won just one of his last four scoring appearances (D3). Mikael Ellertsson provided the assist for Venezia’s sole Serie A goal to date in 2024/25, while his five first team goals for club and country have always come in victories where his team netted at least three times. [/p]
[p]Hot streak: Milan’s last 27 games not to end 0-0 have seen the side that scored first avoid defeat. [/p]
