Ajax Feyenoord prediction 2023-03-19

Ajax vs Feyenoord prediction: NETHERLANDS: Eredivisie betting tips on match 2023-03-18 13:30.
In any ordinary Eredivisie season, the classic between Ajax and Feyenoord needs no additional drama or incentive to be the must-watch fixture of the weekend. But when taking current league rankings into account, everything will be on the line in this top of the table billing that could be decisive when it comes to determining the national champion. Feyenoord have the upper hand, but Ajax all the momentum after their advance following a change in management.

Ajax boast by far the best goal difference in the Eredivisie (+45) and can therefore make their way back to the top of the three with a victory this weekend. The side from Amsterdam have also bossed their way through this fixture recently, winning six consecutive H2H meetings in recent seasons, but that winning streak came to an end with a 1-1 draw at De Kuip earlier this season. After he won all nine of his domestic matches in charge, this will be the biggest test of 39-year-old Johnny Heitinga’s brief career as first team boss.

There’ll also be no shortage of confidence in the Feyenoord camp after Arne Slot’s boys managed to equal the Europa League all-time record for biggest win (7-1) against Shakhtar Donetsk last Thursday – their 20th consecutive competitive match without defeat. Feyenoord have lost just once in Eredivisie competition in 2022/23 and that was way back in September (4-3 to PSV Eindhoven), winning each of their last five albeit four by single goal margins.

Feyenoord have also found the back of the net in 23 straight league outings, but having conceded in each of their last 15 meetings with Ajax, are probably going to have to score at least twice to have any chance of a victory here. Ajax boss Heitinga joked at a press conference during the week that he hoped Feyenoord’s midweek game would go to extra time to drain their players of energy ahead of this fixture, but it turned out to be the perfect dress rehearsal for the side from Rotterdam.

Players to watch: Dušan Tadić has been involved in one or more hits (G4, A5) in six of the seven Eredivisie games he has played since Heitinga’s appointment. For the visitors, Santiago Giménez was accurate during the week and has now found the net in six of his last eight competitive outings for Feyenoord.

Hot streak: Ajax are undefeated in each of their last 19 home games against Feyenoord (W17, D2).
