Alaves Atl. Madrid prediction 2024-04-21

Alaves vs Atl. Madrid prediction: SPAIN: LaLiga betting tips on match 2024-04-20 16:30.
[p]Three successive La Liga losses, coupled with the fact that the five teams immediately below them in the table ahead of the round all collected at least three points in the same period, has Alavés looking rather anxiously over their shoulder. They’ll hope they’ve built up enough of a cushion given they still hold a seven-point buffer to the relegation zone, but after an Atlético Madrid side chasing a top-four Champions League place have visited, their situation could look a little more precarious. [/p]

[p]The first thing on boss Luis García’s agenda will be to get the goals flowing again, as they’ve only scored twice across their last seven league outings (W1, D2, L4). If it’s any consolation for Alavés, both of those strikes did at least come at home, but scoring has been a deep-rooted problem for García, whose side haven’t netted more than once in a La Liga game at the Mendizorrotza Stadium since November![/p]

[p]You’d have to go back to 2002 for the last time Atlético conceded more than twice in an away H2H, and Diego Simeone’s side likely won’t be in a sympathetic mood as their need for points is equally as great. Equidistant from Girona in third and Athletic in fifth ahead of the round (four points), Atlético not only need points to try and catch the surprise package above them, but also keep their nearest challengers for their top-four spot at bay. [/p]

[p]An impressive ten wins from their last 15 La Liga H2Hs (D4, L1) would suggest they’re good value to claim the spoils here, but they’ll be acutely aware that the sole defeat came on their last visit to this ground back in September 2021. Some indifferent recent away form (W2, D2, L6) does raise further doubts over their credentials, while they also went down 4-2 away from home in midweek against Borussia Dortmund as they were eliminated from the Champions League. [/p]

[p]Players to watch: Andoni Gorosabel is the only Alavés player to score in their last five league games, but even a goal may not be enough here as he’s never won a personal H2H (D3, L5). An early goal from Antoine Griezmann may hold the key to Atlético’s success, as he’s opened the scoring in three of their five away league wins this term. [/p]

[p]Hot stat: When conceding first this season, Alavés have won only two points (D2, L14). [/p]
