Almere City Sittard prediction 2024-01-20

Almere City vs Sittard prediction: NETHERLANDS: Eredivisie betting tips on match 2024-01-20 20:00.
Just three days after their KNVB Cup defeat against Fortuna Sittard, Almere City FC will receive another visit from the Limburgers, this time in an Eredivisie context. The home team was already trailing 0-2 at half time because it could not get a grip on Kaj Sierhuis, who could even have made a hat-trick if his goal from long distance had not been disallowed. Just before the final whistle, Almere got something back through Kornelius Hansen, but that was not enough to turn the tide.

Their cup adventure is over, but in the competition Almere is a handy five points clear of the relegation zone prior to this round of play after last week's 1-0 away win over FC Volendam. Almere is now equal in points with their opponent this weekend, but is one spot lower in the rankings based on goal difference. Both clubs can still work on their goal production, because they are among the teams that have scored fewer than 20 league goals.

Whether Fortuna enters this match as favourites depends mainly on which figures one considers to be decisive, because the team won this week in the Yanmar Stadium, but is also the only club in the Eredivisie that has not yet achieved a victory away from home this season. Fortuna only took home a total of two points from their away games and has lost a total of 11 of the last 13 away matches in all competitions. In those eleven appearances, the team only scored a total of four goals.

However, Danny Buijs' team managed to win five of their last six meetings with Almere. The Fortunes are in danger of losing leading player Tijjani Noslin this window, but are not sitting idle and hope to strengthen themselves in the short term with Justin Lonwijk, whose brother Nigel has also played for the club in the past. Goalkeeper Ivor Pandur is officially still a Fortuna player, but the club already anticipated his departure by recalling Michael Verrips from his loan period at FC Groningen.

Players to watch: Thomas Robinet found the back of the net in half of his last ten matches, whilst Kaj Sierhuis scored six goals in his last six appearances.

Hot stat: Four of the last six H2Hs ended in a 2-1 victory for Fortuna.
