Almeria vs Las Palmas prediction: SPAIN: LaLiga betting tips on match 2023-10-27 12:00.
AlmerĂa’s dire 2023/24 La Liga (LL) campaign sank even further at the weekend with a 5-2 loss away to Girona, a club that notably was promoted into Spain’s highest division alongside them for the beginning of 2022/23. It’s yet another indication that the bottom-placed side are struggling to develop into a proper top-flight outfit, especially as their next two opponents – Las Palmas and AlavĂ©s – have so far exceeded expectations as newly promoted teams.
It has become clear that new manager Gaizka Garitano has an enormous task ahead of him, as when quantified by points and goal difference, AlmerĂa own the joint-seventh worst winless ten-game start to a LL campaign (D3, L7; -16). Although Garitano earned the praise of midfielder LĂ©o BaptistĂŁo, who spoke of a positively noticeable difference in training intensity, the manager’s debut last weekend was the fourth consecutive LL match where they conceded 3+ goals.
It could therefore be a fantastic opportunity for Las Palmas to record their first seasonal haul of at least three goals ahead of a Copa del Rey tie with Balearic Island club CE Manacor next week. Despite being pre-season favourites to be relegated, Las Palmas have shot their way up into a mid-table position with three wins from their last five LL games (L2), despite last weekend’s hiccup at home to Rayo Vallecano (L 1-0).
Perhaps most ominously for their hosts, Las Palmas have curated an effective LL record of W3, D1, L1 against clubs beneath them in the standings heading into this round, including a 2-1 win over Villarreal in their most recent away trip. Former Barcelona reserve team coach GarcĂa Pimienta has built an outstanding defensive unit that conceded fewer LL goals (nine) than all clubs bar AtlĂ©tico and Real Madrid after the previous matchday, although goalscoring is certainly an issue, with no side scoring less than their six!
Players to watch: AlmerĂa defender Chumi is having a miserable time this calendar year, having now failed to be part of a clean sheet in 16 consecutive LL games. One man with ambitions to make it 17 is Las Palmas midfielder Javier Muñoz, who has scored or assisted in four of his eight games against AlmerĂa.
Hot stat: All but four of AlmerĂa’s 22 LL matches since the start of April 2023 produced more than 2.5 total goals.
