Anderlecht vs FCSB prediction: EUROPE: Europa Conference League – Group Stage betting tips on match 2022-10-26 16:45.
Managerless Anderlecht are in disarray after their fans threw flares onto the field with their side 3-1 down against Standard Liege on Sunday, causing the game to be abandoned. That came after UEFA fined the club €50,000 for similar behaviour in their previous UEFA Europa Conference League (UECL) game against West Ham United, a 2-1 defeat which means Anderlecht can no longer top Group B (W1, D1, L2).
That West Ham loss began a miserable sequence of four straight defeats which has left them loitering around mid-table in Belgium’s First Division A and needing to overhaul a two-point deficit to Silkeborg to make the UECL knockout round play-offs. After manager Felice Mazzù departed on Monday, interim boss Robin Veldman must try to get a result here to maintain the club’s unbeaten home record against Romanian sides (W7, D1) in an attempt to keep their fading knockout hopes alive.
Nothing but a win will do here for FCSB if they are to retain any aspirations of reaching the knockout round, but having never even scored in an away H2H (D1, L2), they’ll likely travel with trepidation even without the potential for crowd trouble should they find themselves ahead. That seems unlikely though, as they’ve scored just once during the group stage (D1, L3) and are 14 points off the pace in Romania’s Liga 1 (W5, D5, L3).
However, that one UECL goal was the opener at West Ham (L 3-1) so they’ve shown potential to cause problems, as some good recent away form also shows (W2, D1) although they ended their previous-to-last road game with eight men on the pitch, so discipline must remain in check. If cards are likely then so are goals as FCSB’s last three UECL away games all featured over 3.5 goals (W1, L2), meaning hopefully the headlines are made on the pitch rather than in the stands.
Players to watch: Fábio Silva has been Anderlecht’s star man this term, but none of his nine goals came before the 30th minute with his side only losing one of his goalscoring outings (W7, D1). Similarly, FCSB’s Andrea Compagno has scored five of his six goals for them this term after the 45th minute.
Hot stat: FCSB have conceded a UECL-high average of 3.25 goals per game this term.
