Angers Toulouse prediction 2023-03-12

Angers vs Toulouse prediction: FRANCE: Ligue 1 betting tips on match 2023-03-11 14:00.
Things are going from bad to worse for relegation-bound Angers, who lost their manager this week due to an enormous media backlash after a questionable team-talk in which Abdel Bouhazama downplayed charges of sexual assault against his full-back Ilyes Chetti. Controversially fielding the full-back didn’t really help matters either, as Angers lost 5-0 to Montpellier in a result which left them 12 points from safety ahead of the round.

In fact, Angers’ current haul of ten points after 26 games is the joint-worst of any side in French top-flight history (when converted to three-points-for-a-win). They need seven more points before the end of the season if they’re to avoid becoming the worst side in Ligue 1 history, yet off-field turmoil and no league win since September (D2, L18) doesn’t inspire much confidence in escaping such a fate.

Facing such an abject side could have come at an ideal time for Toulouse, who are looking to end a three-game losing run of league games which has seen them slip seven points adrift of the top-half ahead of this round. With no immediate fears of falling into the extended drop zone, and a Coupe de France semi-final to look forward to, this is already turning out to be a season to remember for the promoted side.

Despite the positives, the travelling Toulouse faithful have endured some tough trips this season as evidenced by their meagre ten-point haul on the road (W3, D1, L8). However Toulouse have won all three of their away league games against sides ranked 15th or lower, and triumphed in two of their three trips when priced as favourites (L1), so extending their impressive nine-game unbeaten H2H streak at Angers appears more than possible (W5, D4).

Players to watch: Angers midfielder Pierrick Capelle is a glutton for punishment, receiving a league-high eight yellow cards ahead of this round. Perhaps the main target for his tough tackles will be Toulouse’s Fares Chaïbi, who has contributed to 11 competitive goals in his maiden season (G6, A5).

Hot stat: More than two thirds of Toulouse’s conceded league goals this season have arrived beyond half-time (31/46).
