Arsenal Tottenham prediction 2023-09-24

Arsenal vs Tottenham prediction: ENGLAND: Premier League betting tips on match 2023-09-23 13:00.
Arsenal’s preparations for the 194th North London derby (NLD) against Tottenham Hotspur couldn’t have gone much better as they breezed to a 4-0 Champions League win over PSV on Wednesday night to remain unbeaten this season (W6, D1). After the ideal follow-up to last weekend’s 1-0 Premier League (PL) win over Everton, manager Mikel Arteta described some of his side’s play as “phenomenal”.

Tottenham’s absence from Europe this term means his players have had less recovery time, but Arteta will want more of the same as he takes charge of his seventh NLD (W4, L3), with the Gunners unbeaten in 12 home PL H2Hs (W8, D4), having won the last three. The last five PL meetings at the Emirates (W4, D1) have seen both teams score, with relative form and league positions regularly counting for little when north London’s finest meet.

That was particularly evident prior to this corresponding fixture two seasons ago (Arsenal 3-1 Tottenham), when Spurs were tenth in the early table and Arsenal were 14th! They’re currently above Arsenal, although only on goal difference (W4, D1) – not that manager Ange Postecoglou will be taking anything for granted. As a veteran of 11 Old Firm derbies while in charge of Celtic, he will know better than that!

Tottenham are also unbeaten across four PL away games (W3, D1), a run mostly achieved since selling Harry Kane, who loved playing and scoring in this fixture, netting their consolation at Arsenal last term. Spurs certainly haven’t taken a backward step since his departure, scoring inside the opening 20 minutes of all three league matches on their travels so far this term (W2, D1).

Players to watch: Martin Ødegaard has netted in both of Arsenal’s last two home fixtures and three of his last four club goals were the Gunners’ first of those respective games. Dejan Kulusevski was one of Tottenham’s two injury-time scorers as they came from behind to beat Sheffield United 2-1 last Saturday and four of his last five goals for Spurs have come after the 60th minute.

Hot stat: Since the start of last season, Arsenal are unbeaten in 95% of home league matches they started as favourites (W16, D4, L1).
