AS Roma Frosinone prediction 2023-10-01

AS Roma vs Frosinone prediction: ITALY: Serie A betting tips on match 2023-09-30 18:45.
After being left “sad” at Roma’s 1-1 draw against Torino last weekend, one can only imagine how JosĂ© Mourinho felt after his side were on the receiving end of a 4-1 thumping by newly-promoted Genoa on Thursday – the first time they’ve seen four fly into their own net against a newly-promoted side since February 2012. As such, the Giallorossi have won just one of their opening six Serie A (SA) matches (D2, L3), leaving Mourinho to lament what he described as his “worst start to a season as a coach”.

And little wonder, as that result also cemented Roma’s joint-worst six-game start to a SA campaign in the three points-per-win era, as they equaled the five points they managed at the same stage in 2010/11. It’s in defence where Mourinho’s men are really struggling, as their 13 goals scored is bettered only by Inter ahead of this round, but alarmingly, only two sides have conceded more than their 11.

Roma’s defensive struggles will be music to the ears of Frosinone, who after being promoted alongside Genoa, have made a stellar start back to life in the top-flight. Not dismayed by defeat to Napoli on the opening day, the Canaries are now unbeaten in their subsequent five matches (W2, D3), leaving them inside the top-eight ahead of the round.

It’s been a dream start at the helm for manager Eusebio Di Francesco, who’ll return to familiar surroundings when he steps onto the Olimpico turf, having managed Roma 87 times previously. The Frosinone boss doesn’t have particularly fond memories of facing his former employers however, having failed to secure a win in ten previous managerial attempts with three different teams (D3, L7).

Players to watch: Roma captain Lorenzo Pellegrini could be on a mission to personally steady his team’s ship considering he scored in the last H2H, contributing to him being undefeated in 29 of his 34 goalscoring SA matches (W24, D5). Opposing captain Luca Mazzitelli shared the stage with Pellegrini at Sassuolo and in the Roma and Italy youth ranks. He could prove a threat to his former teammates' record late on since four of his last six goals have come after half-time.

Hot streak: Roma have scored in both halves and won all of their previous four encounters with Frosinone.
