AS Roma vs Servette prediction: EUROPE: Europa League – Group Stage betting tips on match 2023-10-04 19:00.
Last season's UEFA Europa League (UEL) runners-up Roma beat Sheriff Tiraspol 2-1 in their first UEL match this term to open their European campaign on solid footing. It’s just as well Roma can seek some solace in Europe, as a poor league start (W2, D2, L3) sees them sit 13th in Serie A despite only two teams scoring more than their 15 league goals. However, Roma did at least get back on track with a comfortable 2-0 win over Frosinone on Sunday night.
Similarly to the end of the previous season, the Giallorossi are suffering from a pile-up in the treatment room, but that hasn’t stopped them winning consecutive home matches by an impressive 9-0 aggregate score. They were similarly strong at home in last season’s UEL, winning all but one of their seven home matches, with the exception a 2-1 defeat to Betis in the group stage.
UEL group stage debutants Servette are getting ready for their first-ever competitive meeting with an Italian opposition, looking to avenge a 2-0 defeat to Slavia Prague on matchday one. The Swiss Super League runners-up from last season haven’t reacted well to that defeat on domestic soil either, winning only one of their three following outings (D1, L1).
It’s a similar story on the road in continental action too, with Servette winning only one of their previous six European away matches (D2, L3). They’ve also failed to win each of their three away league matches since the start of August (D1, L2), which doesn’t bode well as they bid to become only the second ever Swiss club to win away to Roma.
Players to watch: The match-winner against Sheriff, Romelu Lukaku has already scored four goals in his first six outings for Roma, with three of those goals arriving after the hour mark. Servette’s Miroslav Stevanović will battle him for the second half limelight given he’s netted after half-time in consecutive games.
Hot stat: Servette have scored 13 of their last 15 goals after the break.
