Aston Villa Burnley prediction 2023-12-30

Aston Villa vs Burnley prediction: ENGLAND: Premier League betting tips on match 2023-12-29 15:00.
[p]Two goals to the good and cruising at Old Trafford on Boxing Day, Aston Villa handed Manchester United a belated Christnmas gift as their second half collapse saw them lose 3-2. That meant Villa missed the chance to end Boxing Day joint-top of the Premier League (PL), but they’ll be confident of getting back to winning ways at Villa Park, where they have won 15 of their last 16 PL games. [/p]

[p]Boss Unai Emery should be confident of seeing his side do so against relegation battling Burnley, a team they brushed aside 3-1 at Turf Moor in the season’s infancy back in August. That’s a common theme for Emery, who boasts a 100% winning managerial record against Burnley (W4), though none of the four saw his side keep a clean sheet. To extend that though, he’ll have to do something no Villa manager has done since Martin O’Neill in 2010 – win a home H2H against the Clarets (D1, L3 since).[/p]

[p]Despite Burnley boss Vincent Kompany claiming his side “pushed Liverpool all the way”, they ultimately slumped to a 14th defeat of the PL season (W2, D3) when losing 2-0. Only spared the embarrassment of footing up the division by Sheffield United, the Clarets did at least win on their last away trip when they beat Fulham 2-0 prior to Christmas, and eight of their 11 points this season have been collected on the road![/p]

[p]That’s not to say they hold much hope of getting a result here though, as they’re yet to win a game this season against a side starting the round inside the top half. It’s hard to find many silver linings for a side drowning in the relegation zone, but they can perhaps take heart from the fact they’re unbeaten in their last three PL games that immediately followed a loss. [/p]

[p]Players to watch: Villa’s Matty Cash only has two league goals to his name this term, both of which came in the opening 20 minutes of the reverse fixture. Lyle Foster was also on target in that game, and he still waits for his first Burnley goal since his mental health lay-off. [/p]

[p]Hot stat: No side has kept a PL clean sheet at Villa Park since Chelsea in October 2022.[/p]
