Aston Villa Tottenham prediction 2024-03-10

Aston Villa vs Tottenham prediction: ENGLAND: Premier League betting tips on match 2024-03-09 13:00.
[p]In between their ongoing UEFA Europa Conference League battle with Dutch giants Ajax (0-0 after the first leg), Aston Villa have a potentially decisive meeting with Tottenham that could play a big part in determining which of the two will be a Champions League outfit next season. Villa’s five-point lead over Tottenham comes with having played an extra game, so anything but a fourth consecutive win over their upcoming opponents could leave the door ajar.[/p]

[p]Their Premier League journey this calendar year has not been as easy as a 16-goal haul from six games would suggest. Not only did they have to work hard for high-scoring wins over Luton Town (3-2 away) and Nottingham Forest (4-2 home) in their last two outings, but their two previous matches at home prior to that success against Forest ended in defeats to both Manchester United (2-1) and Newcastle (3-1), suggesting they’re not as sharp at Villa Park as they were in earlier in the campaign.[/p]

[p]Tottenham were in the midst of a five-game winless run when losing at home to Villa in late November (D1, L4), and whilst they haven’t yet reclaimed the consistency that had them on top of the table at the end of October, they kept the pressure on Villa with a come-from-behind 3-1 win at home to Crystal Palace last round.[/p]

[p]That did continue an unwanted and concerning pattern for Tottenham of having conceded the opening goal in five of their last six Premier League games. It’s unlikely to be a long-term recipe for success, but for now, they have shown the fortitude to win five of the nine league games in which they fell behind 1-0 (D2, L2), albeit with their only such away win coming against lowly Burnley back in early September.[/p]

[p]Players to watch: Midfielder Douglas Luiz doubled Villa’s lead in two of their three consecutive wins over Spurs and also netted a double in their last Premier League home game. Spurs could be looking to Richarlison for early inspiration after he opened their account in three of their last four league away trips.[/p]

[p]Hot stat: All but one of the last 18 Premier League matches involving either Aston Villa or Tottenham produced over 2.5 total goals, as did seven of the last nine H2Hs![/p]
