Atl. Madrid vs Celtic prediction: EUROPE: Champions League – Group Stage betting tips on match 2023-11-06 20:00.
All but one of Spain’s five 2023/24 UEFA Champions League (UCL) participants were undefeated after the first half of the group stage round, including Diego Simeone’s AtlĂ©tico Madrid. They drew away to both Lazio (1-1) and upcoming opponents Celtic (2-2) either side of a hard-fought win hosting Feyenoord (3-2) in which they fell behind twice.

Although it’s not a habit any side wants to have, it speaks volumes about just how hard they are to defeat in this competition. Holding two of their remaining three group stage games at the Metropolitano, where they have won 15 consecutive competitive matches (14 in La Liga – a joint-club record), should give them a significant upper hand in their pursuit to avenge last season’s group stage failure.

While Atlético went down 2-1 to Las Palmas at the weekend, Celtic extended their unbeaten run across all competitions to six games (W4, D2) with a 3-0 win at Ross County to extend their already imposing lead at the top of the Scottish Premiership. Manager Brendan Rodgers made several changes for their second league game in four days in order to save his stars for this fixture, and his calculated risk ultimately worked a treat.

Still without a win in this group stage (D1, L2), Celtic now face the prospect of almost certainly needing to register their inaugural victory against AtlĂ©tico (D3, L4) to keep their UCL campaign alive. Having now lost five of their last six UEFA away trips (D1), four of which were by a multiple-goal margin, it appears that Rodgers is going to have to conjure some magic to grab the points they’ll need against AtlĂ©tico and Lazio this month.

Players to watch: Álvaro Morata has scored in three consecutive competitive appearances for AtlĂ©tico, a run which commenced with a decisive second-half equaliser against Celtic. Visiting forward Kyogo Furuhashi’s goal in the reverse H2H actually marked his third successive outing in which he netted, though he hasn’t scored since.

Hot stat: Atlético kept a clean sheet in just one of their last 11 competitive home victories.
