Atl. Madrid Valencia prediction 2024-01-28

Atl. Madrid vs Valencia prediction: SPAIN: LaLiga betting tips on match 2024-01-27 20:00.
Following their costly 4-3 defeat to title-chasing Girona, AtlĂ©tico Madrid face Valencia aiming for back-to-back La Liga wins after dispatching strugglers Granada 1-0 on Monday. That result lifted them back into the top four where they finished the round sharing 41 points with Athletic Bilbao – but with a game in hand. Then despite the tight turnaround, they rallied to play again on Thursday night and secure another 1-0 win in the Copa del Rey quarter-final at home to Sevilla.

Grinding out results is a positive sign for the hosts who should feel confident of building upon that duo of successes as they return to the Metropolitano Stadium where they’ve picked up 28 points (W9, D1) so far, with no La Liga side picking up more at home ahead of the round. They’ll be confident of building on that when Valencia come to town, a side they’ve avoided defeat against in 14 successive meetings in Spain’s capital (W10, D4).

Despite their rotten record on the road in this fixture, Valencia shouldn’t make the journey with any fear, as they comfortably beat AtlĂ©tico in the reverse H2H (3-0) and come into the clash having won five of their past six matches (L1). Four of those came in the league meaning that Los Ches could win five straight top-tier matches for the first time since April 2018 here.

It’s fair to say, then, that things are looking up for RubĂ©n Baraja’s side, and with 12 points more on the board than what they had at this stage of last season, a return to European football for the first time in five years could well be on the cards. Valencia will certainly boost those prospects if they can keep building on the two recent successive away wins which has banished their rotten streak of no win on the road in La Liga away in their eight games prior.

Players to watch: Álvaro Morata has scored two goals across his past three Atlético matches, both of which arrived in the 15 minutes immediately after half-time, whilst fellow forward Hugo Duro has opened the scoring for Valencia in two of his last three matches.

Hot stat: No La Liga side has opened the scoring at home more often than Atlético ahead of this matchday (8/10).
