Augsburg vs Mainz prediction: GERMANY: Bundesliga betting tips on match 2024-09-19 18:30.
[p]After failing to win either of their first two Bundesliga games and conceding six goals in the process (D1, L1), Augsburg got back amongst the wins by beating St Pauli 3-1 last weekend, with all four goals coming after the break. While it’s far from a perfect start, this is the most points they’ve had at this stage since 2020/21 when they went on to finish 13th.[/p]
[p]Despite that, defensive concerns remain for Jess Thorup’s men, who haven’t kept a clean sheet in any of their last nine competitive games. This fixture against Mainz might well be the perfect time to end that run, as amongst teams they’ve faced at least ten times in the top-flight at present, Augsburg have their best win percentage against the 05ers (W8, D2, L3).[/p]
[p]For the second season in a row, Mainz have failed to win any of their first three Bundesliga matches (D2, L1). It took them ten games to get off the mark last term, and fans will be desperate to avoid a repeat given they only finished two points above the relegation play-off place. [/p]
[p]It’s not all doom and gloom though, as the 2-1 defeat to Werder Bremen last week was their first in the league since March (W5, D6). They remain unbeaten in five on the road in the Bundesliga (W1, D4), rescuing points from a losing position in three of their last four! However, a return of just one win from their last seven Bundesliga trips to Augsburg (L6) suggests this is a tricky clash in which to continue that form.[/p]
[p]Players to watch: Marius Wolf scored on his first start for Augsburg, so he’ll be looking forward to a clash with the side he has the joint-most wins against in his career (seven), though his only red card at club level also came against Mainz. The 05ers might be able to count on Jae-Sung Lee, who has four wins and three goals against Augsburg – that’s the most he has against any side.[/p]
[p]Hot stat: Four of the last five H2Hs on this ground were decided by a 2-1 scoreline, while only one of the 36 meetings between these sides ended goalless.[/p]
