Augsburg RB Leipzig prediction 2022-10-22

Augsburg vs RB Leipzig prediction: GERMANY: Bundesliga betting tips on match 2022-10-21 13:30.
Augsburg completed a Bundesliga round below RB Leipzig in the standings for the first time in four weeks after both clubs were on opposite ends of two thrilling 3-2 results last weekend. On the wrong end of that result against Cologne, Augsburg’s defeat has in part helped set up another mouthwatering encounter in a matchup that has averaged three goals per game over the last three seasons, with all but one of the seven meetings across all competitions won by Leipzig (D1).

Enrico Maaßen’s Augsburg side come into this match already having lost to similarly placed Bundesliga clubs on multiple occasions this season, conceding an 81st match-winner against Cologne at the weekend following home losses against Mainz and Hertha Berlin earlier in the campaign. Still, with more wins (W4, D1, L4) as an outsider than any other Bundesliga team in the first ten rounds, nobody can afford to underestimate the threat the heavy underdogs will pose here.

Leipzig’s four-game Bundesliga winning streak at home is keeping them within striking distance of the top-four despite their equal-worst ten game start to a Bundesliga season in their history. Matching the W4, D3, L3 record they had at this point of 2021/22 after holding on for dear life at home to Hertha Berlin (3-2) last time out in Bundesliga action, there was another small win in there for Leipzig, who recorded more than two goals in a single half of league football for the first time this season!

Manager Marco Rose described it as a “very dominant phase” and exclaimed his pride in the performance, but acknowledged that they’re a long way from being a top-four contender just yet. That’s partly due to some wretched away form that Leipzig need to improve upon dramatically as they are shackled with the Bundesliga’s equal second-worst away record (W0, D2, L3), concerningly in which they started as favourites on all five occasions!

Players to watch: Augsburg will be hoping for more early impact from Ermedin Demirović, who has scored their opening goal three times this Bundesliga season. For the visitors, the Ballon d’Or shortlisted Christopher Nkunku has recorded two of Leipzig’s three away Bundesliga goals.

Hot streak: Both teams have scored in all six of Marco Rose’s personal managerial clashes with Augsburg.
