Augsburg RB Leipzig prediction 2024-02-10

Augsburg vs RB Leipzig prediction: GERMANY: Bundesliga betting tips on match 2024-02-09 14:30.
Augsburg struck late to pinch a 1-1 draw at Bochum last Saturday, netting an injury time penalty for the second time in as many Bundesliga games (D1, L1). Consequently, they have won only one of their last seven league matches (D2, L4), a run that could soon threaten to have them casting nervous glances towards the bottom three. But as they’re currently seven points clear of danger, there’s no need to panic just yet.

That’s partly because this is the fourth consecutive season in which the Fuggerstädter have gained between 19 and 22 points after 20 matches, and they survived on all three previous occasions. Only a slim majority (13 – W3, D4, L3) of their points 22 have come at home, suggesting their run of not beating RB Leipzig anywhere since September 2017 could well continue, especially as they’re also winless in the last seven meetings here (D3, L4).

That’s certainly good news for the Red Bulls, who beat Union Berlin 2-0 last weekend to stay in touch with the top four. Their first win of the calendar year was much needed following three consecutive league defeats and it eased some of the pressure on manager Marco Rose, who reached the milestone of 70 games in charge with what he called a “deserved and important victory”.

It was also their first clean sheet since the start of November and another would be valuable here given they have conceded an average of 2.4 goals per game across their last five away league fixtures (W1, D1, L3). Rose must be desperate for a decent start in search of improving on that run, as his side remain unbeaten when scoring first away from home this season (W4, D1).

Players to watch: Phillip Tietz has been a good luck charm for Augsburg since joining in July as they’re unbeaten in all of his goalscoring outings this term (W3, D1), with three of those four strikes arriving before the 30th minute. Like Tietz, Xavi Simons joined Leipzig in July 2023 and his last three goals were netted between the fifth and tenth minutes!

Hot streak: Augsburg have led at half-time just four times this Bundesliga season, but are unbeaten when doing so (W3, D1).
