Augsburg vs St. Pauli prediction: GERMANY: Bundesliga betting tips on match 2024-09-14 13:30.
[p]After never previously meeting in the German top flight, and without a H2H meeting since April 2010, Augsburg and St Pauli lock horns at the WWK Arena this Sunday. Both sides have gone winless in the league so far this season, but the hosts do at least have a historical unbeaten record at home in H2Hs (W3, D1) that they can look to extend.Ā [/p]
[p]Augsburg found themselves 2-1 up at half-time in their opening game of this campaign but have since conceded five goals without reply. They went down 4-0 away at Heidenheim in their last match meaning their poor end-of-season form, which saw them lose all five of their final fixtures, shows few signs of being turned around.[/p]
[p]St Pauli, who finished as champions in 2. Bundesliga last season, returned to the top tier after an absence of 12 years but have found the going tough so far and sit bottom of the table without a goal to their name. Defeats at home to Heidenheim and away at Union Berlin mean that fans of the Buccaneers have now seen their side lose 13 of their last 14 matches at this level (D1), with their last victory in February 2011![/p]
[p]It has been far from an ideal start for new manager Alexander Blessin who joined from Union SG in the summer and has only a cup victory after extra-time against Regionalliga Nordost side Hallescher to show for his efforts so far. However, morale in the camp is still upbeat according to full-back Philipp Treu who did an interview this week claiming performances in the first two games have been āgoodā and the club just needing a bit of āluckā to get going in front of goal.[/p]
[p]Players to watch: Striker Phillip Tietz assisted Augsburgās opening goal in their last home match and also grabbed both a goal and an assist in their cup victory last month. His side have an impressive record in games in which heās found the net (W6, D2) since his arrival from Darmstadt in July 2023. Johannes Eggestein was also on form in the cup with a goal and an assist for St Pauli. Heāll be looking forward to taking on Augsburg again after scoring in his only previous start against them back in 2018/19.[/p]
[p]Hot stat: Augsburg have conceded the first goal in each of their last six Bundesliga matches.[/p]
