Augsburg Union Berlin prediction 2025-05-17

Augsburg vs Union Berlin prediction: GERMANY: Bundesliga betting tips on match 2025-05-16 13:30.
[p]Augsburg enter the final matchday on a four-game winless run (D1, L3) after losing 4-0 at Stuttgart in the penultimate round. To add insult to injury, it was their joint-biggest defeat of the season, ruining their chance of a first top-half finish in ten years and just their third such finish in Bundesliga history, although it is their third-best campaign in terms of points since their first-ever promotion to the top flight in 2011.[/p]

[p]At home, they are without a win in three for the first time this season (D1, L2), while only once have they scored more than one goal in eight league games at the WWK Arena this calendar year. Augsburg do at least have an unbeaten Bundesliga record as hosts against upcoming opponents Union Berlin (W4, D1) and have lost just one of their 15 H2Hs overall (W7, D7).[/p]

[p]Union are winless in five (D4, L1) as a run of four draws was brought to an end by a 3-0 home defeat to relegation-threatened Heidenheim last weekend, in what was their biggest such loss in 2024/25. That result sealed their second-worst Bundesliga finish in their sixth top-flight campaign and even if they take all three points here, a move up to 12th place is highly unlikely.[/p]

[p]Winning would at least see Union avoid a second league season in a row with only a single-digit number of victories. And given that they are currently enjoying a four-game unbeaten run away from home (W2, D2), with Steffen Baumgart’s men collecting points at three current top-four teams in that time (W2, D1), that outcome is not totally out of the question. [/p]

[p]Players to watch: The last goal that resulted in an Augsburg home win was scored by Phillip Tietz against Wolfsburg in March, with the 27-year-old also netting in last season’s corresponding fixture against Union. Scoring the winner in Union’s last away victory at Freiburg, Andrej Ilić (G5 this term) also got two of the record-breaking eight first-half goals in the 4-4 draw with Stuttgart a few weeks ago.[/p]

[p]Hot stat: Eight of the 11 Bundesliga games between Augsburg and Union have produced fewer than 2.5 goals.[/p]
