Augsburg Werder Bremen prediction 2024-08-24

Augsburg vs Werder Bremen prediction: GERMANY: Bundesliga betting tips on match 2024-08-23 13:30.
[p]Despite conceding within four minutes to lower league opposition in the first round of the DFB-Pokal, Augsburg rallied to a 4-1 victory that should boost morale ahead of their opening Bundesliga fixture of the campaign. That additional confidence will be much needed as the Bavarian outfit enter this season amongst the favourites to be relegated from the Bundesliga, somewhat due to the fact that striker Ermedin Demirović departed this summer to join Eintracht Frankfurt. [/p]

[p]Augsburg have responded by reinvesting that incoming money into no fewer than eight new signings that should offer them plenty of depth, with the pick of the bunch arguably being former Borussia Dortmund defender Marius Wolf. His first job will be to help his new backline to stop leaking goals, especially as only Hoffenheim (two) kept fewer clean sheets than their three in the Bundesliga last term! [/p]

[p]Unlike their opposition on matchday one, Werder Bremen have enjoyed a quiet summer on the transfer front which saw them keep nearly all of the first team squad that helped the Green-Whites to a ninth-placed finish in the previous Bundesliga. The visitors missed out on European qualification by virtue of goal difference, so making a stronger start will be the aim this time around as they look to win on the opening matchday of this competition for the first time since 2013 (D3, L6)! [/p]

[p]It was arguably Werder’s overall lack of goalscoring last season which ended up costing them dearly, with their 48 goals acting as their lowest in a league season since their last Bundesliga relegation in 2020/21. A run of scoring 2+ goals in four of their last five league games of 2023/24, in which they earned 11 points (W3, D2), would at least point towards an improvement being made in that department. [/p]

[p]Players to watch: Ruben Vargas returns after enjoying a solid Euro 2024 campaign with Switzerland this summer (G1, A1), and he scored two of Augsburg’s last three league goals last term. Werder’s Marvin Ducksch will look to pick up where he left off after recording seven goal contributions across his last five Bundesliga appearances (G3, A4), whilst he also scored and assisted in both H2Hs last campaign.  [/p]

[p]Hot stat: No side scored fewer opening goals in the first 15 minutes of Bundesliga matches last season than Augsburg (two). [/p]
