Auxerre vs Brest prediction: FRANCE: Ligue 1 betting tips on match 2024-09-26 17:00.
[p]An “angry” Christophe PĂ©lissier has warned his Auxerre players that defensive errors are making it “impossible” for them to win games. A 3-2 defeat to Montpellier last weekend means the club have conceded three times in each of their last three games, while they have already been breached 12 times in total in Ligue 1 – only Montpellier and St-Étienne have conceded more at this stage.[/p]
[p]It has therefore been a miserable return to the top-flight for last year’s Ligue 2 champions, who have now lost four games in a row since a surprise opening day victory over Nice. Their measly three-point haul (W1, L4) is their joint-lowest at this stage of a campaign this century, while it is now 13 matches since they kept a clean sheet in the first tier – a run that dates back to April 2023 and also includes just two wins (D3, L8).[/p]
[p]Attempting to extend that poor run will be Brest, who finally appear to have refound the form they displayed last season to qualify for the UEFA Champions League for the first time in their history. The Pirates have won their last two outings, firstly beating Sturm Graz on their European bow before winning 2-0 against Toulouse in Ligue 1, despite making nine changes to their starting line-up.[/p]
[p]That comes after Éric Roy’s side endured a testing start to the campaign, winning only one of their opening four outings (L3). Two of those defeats have come on the road, where Brest are yet to register a single point; however, if history is anything to go by, they have a strong chance of getting off the mark at the Stade Abbé-Deschamps, a venue they have lost just one of the last seven H2Hs at (W3, D3).[/p]
[p]Key battle: Auxerre will be hoping forward Theo Bair can break his duck for the club, as he is unbeaten across the last ten games in which he has scored (W5, D5), although nine of those matches saw both teams score! Attempting to stop him could be centre-back Julien Le Cardinal, one of only two players to have started every league game for Brest this season, as he has only lost one of his previous four H2Hs (W2, D1).[/p]
[p]Hot stat: Two of Auxerre’s losses this season have come after they scored first – the highest such total in the division so far.[/p]
