Auxerre Nantes prediction 2023-04-16

Auxerre vs Nantes prediction: FRANCE: Ligue 1 betting tips on match 2023-04-15 13:00.
Despite his initial slow start, Auxerre’s persistence to stick with manager Christophe PĂ©lissier is paying off. He joined the club in October and has firmly made his mark in recent weeks with his side having lost only one of their last nine Ligue 1 games (W4, D4). The most recent fixtures in that run were two wins ‘to nil’ and they’re now chasing three straight top-flight victories for the first time since April 2010!

The biggest benefit of this upturn in form is what it’s done for Auxerre’s safety prospects. Prior to the start of that nine-game run, they sat second from bottom and six points from safety, but they finished the last round in 15th and three points clear of the drop zone. However, H2H history suggests that opponents Nantes will test their newly-found resolve as Auxerre have fallen short in four of the last six competitive meetings (W1, D1).

It’s not that long ago that Nantes were looking up the table, instead of down it. Yet, a winless Ligue 1 run stretching across seven matches (D3, L4) has dragged them closer and closer to the relegation zone. They now come into this gameweek just one place above their hosts and more concerningly, only five points above 17th-placed Strasbourg.

You can probably attribute some of their faltering league form to their participation in this year’s Coupe de France competition, where Nantes have progressed all the way to the final after seeing off Lyon (1-0) recently. Despite the excitement for that showpiece event and the chance to retain their trophy, manager Antoine KombouarĂ© will be eager to get more points on the board and might then take comfort from the fact his team are one of only three sides unbeaten against current bottom-half Ligue 1 sides this season (W5, D6).

Players to watch: Auxerre’s Nuno Da Costa marked his 99th Ligue 1 appearance with a goal last time out and could make it 100 competition appearances here. Nantes’ Ludovic Blas is on fire and has contributed to each of his side’s last three competitive goals (G2, A1).

Hot stat: Nantes’ last five Ligue 1 games have produced six goals in the 30’-45’ period.
