Auxerre vs PSG prediction: FRANCE: Ligue 1 betting tips on match 2024-12-05 20:00.
[p]Overachievers Auxerre suffered their first setback since early October when they lost 2-0 at fellow mid-table club Toulouse, but that didn’t come as a surprise to many given their poor travelling record (W1, D1, L5) since returning to Ligue 1. It’s been almost the complete opposite however at their Stade Abbé-Deschamps home this season (W5, L1), where they’re about to face two stern tests against higher-ranked opponents Paris Saint-Germain and Lens. [/p]
[p]Auxerre head coach Christophe Pélissier is certainly up against it here though. His record of W1, D2, L9 v PSG is his worst against any of the nine clubs he has personally faced at least 12 times in the dugout, and includes 5-0 (away) and 2-1 (home) losses during Auxerre’s last Ligue 1 campaign. [/p]
[p]Just days after another disappointing Champions League result (W1, D1, L3 this season), PSG were forced to settle for an annoying 1-1 home draw against relegation candidates Nantes despite enjoying the highest possession figure (84%) in a Ligue 1 match for 17 years! Luis Enrique doesn’t feel that the wheels are falling off the wagon though, pointing to their unbeaten league record in 2024/25 (W10, D3) and sizeable lead at the top of the standings. [/p]
[p]His confidence seems well placed, given that PSG responded to their two other 1-1 draws in Ligue 1 this term by establishing 1-0 half-time leads in their next top-flight fixture, before ultimately winning both by at least two goals, while Nantes were the only bottom-half club at the start of this round that they have been unable to brush aside in 2024/25. When it comes to facing the other sides who started this matchday below the top nine, PSG have won all seven such league meetings this season by at least two goals, scoring 3+ times in all seven victories to compensate for just two clean sheets. [/p]
[p]Players to watch: Hamed Traorè is key to Auxerre’s chances of causing an upset here, having scored in five of the seven games in which they have earned points this season. Bradley Barcola, meanwhile, is pivotal for PSG, as he has netted in all four of their Ligue 1 away wins this term. [/p]
[p]Hot stat: Ten of Auxerre’s games this Ligue 1 season (77%) have produced more than 2.5 total goals – the joint-highest in the division after matchday 13. [/p]
