Auxerre vs Rennes prediction: FRANCE: Ligue 1 betting tips on match 2024-11-02 16:00.
[p]Since their return to Ligue 1, the contrast between Auxerre’s home and away results could barely be starker. A 2-2 draw at Lyon last time out, when Christophe Pélissier’s side twice came from behind to earn a draw, means they have picked up just one of an available 15 points on the road so far this season (D1, L4), whereas they’ve won three of their four matches at Stade Abbé-Deschamps (L1). [/p]
[p]AJA only managed five such wins in 2022/23 when they were last relegated from the top-flight, and victories over Reims and Brest in their last two home games also mean Auxerre now have a chance to register three home victories in a row in Ligue 1 for the first time since March 2010, a run that PĂ©lissier will be desperate for his side to eclipse given their miserable record on their travels.[/p]
[p]It therefore bodes well for Auxerre that opponents Rennes are one of the other five teams in the division yet to win an away match this season ahead of this round (D1, L3). Ominously for Sunday’s hosts however, the Bretons are unbeaten across the last six H2Hs at any venue (W3, D3), a run that stretches back to 2011 and has seen them concede only once![/p]
[p]Manager Julien Stéphan will be hoping that is a good omen for his side, who ended a four-match winless run (D2, L2) by beating Le Havre 1-0 last time out. That was a step in the right direction for the Red and Blacks, but Stéphan is demanding more as he attempts to guide Rennes back up towards the European qualification places, as he admitted that last weekend’s performance “may not have met all expectations” after his players were booed off by their own fans despite the victory.[/p]
[p]Key battle: It has been quite the fortnight for Auxerre’s Sinaly Diomandé who scored in back-to-back games for the first time in his career, stretching his run to three matches without losing when finding the target (W2, D1). Attempting to thwart him will be Rennes goalkeeper Steve Mandanda, who is unbeaten in his last eight personal H2Hs (W3, D5), keeping a clean sheet in each of the last three. [/p]
[p]Hot streak: Rennes’ last six away league games have all seen both teams score on the day. [/p]
