B. Monchengladbach vs RB Leipzig prediction: GERMANY: Bundesliga betting tips on match 2022-09-16 16:30.
With just one defeat to their name after six rounds of Bundesliga action (W2, D3), Borussia Mönchengladbach may be quietly content with their start to the campaign. Three winless games (D2, L1) perhaps indicates that early momentum has slowed a little, and just one goal across those three outings signals a clear area of improvement for new boss Daniel Farke.
While losing the influential Ko Itakura for the rest of 2022 may not bruise Farke’s attacking prospects, the Japanese international has been integral to their early success. Losing such a key defensive player before the visit of Leipzig, against whom Gladbach have kept just one home clean sheet in six H2Hs, certainly isn’t ideal timing, but with consecutive home H2H wins, Farke’s side should still be confident of securing a fifth win in six Bundesliga home outings (L1).
Travelling certainly hasn’t been much fun for Leipzig this season, with a 2-0 defeat against Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League during midweek following up their joint-heaviest Bundesliga defeat of all time in their away outing prior (4-0 against Eintracht Frankfurt). In fact, the only club Leizpig have defeated on the road this season is German fourth-tier side Teutonia Ottensen in the DFB Pokal (D1, L3).
Such poor form resulted in the sacking of Domenico Tedesco, with his replacement a hometown boy in Marco Rose, who now returns to face his former club. Although the new Leipzig boss stated “it’s never easy in your home city”, that didn’t seem to be the case in his first managerial outing when his side beat Borussia Dortmund 3-0! Yet with Rose losing on his only previous managerial trip to Gladbach soil, becoming only the second-ever Leipzig manager to win both of their opening home and away Bundesliga games in charge isn’t likely to be easy.
Players to watch: Gladbach’s Marcus Thuram has made the score 2-1 with two of his three Bundesliga goals this season. Meanwhile, Dominik Szoboszlai is somewhat of a lucky charm for Leipzig, who have won on all six of his Bundesliga scoring appearances.
Hot stat: Leipzig have conceded a first-half goal in four of their last five Bundesliga away games.
