B. Monchengladbach vs Schalke prediction: GERMANY: Bundesliga betting tips on match 2023-02-03 17:30.
Having already crashed out of the DFB-Pokal to second-tier opponents earlier in the campaign, Borussia Mönchengladbach have enjoyed some extra preparation days ahead of this weekendâs Bundesliga action. That may be just what was needed after a January transfer window that saw the Foals lose their former #1 Yann Sommer to Bayern Munich. He was replaced by another Swiss stopper, Jonas Omlin, yet he has conceded five goals in his first three games (W1, L2).
Daniel Farkeâs Foals have taken something of an âall or nothingâ approach at Borussia-Park this season, and are the only side yet to share the points at home (W6, L3). If theyâre to add to that win tally, Omlin might need to come up with his first clean sheet, and one which would be Gladbachâs first in 12 Bundesliga games at any venue.
A shaky Gladbach defence should be music to the ears of rock-bottom Schalke, who have scored the joint-fewest amount of goals at this stage of a Bundesliga campaign in their history (14). Although no side has ever escaped relegation after such a poor record at this stage, the Royal Blues have brought in no fewer than nine players in January as they attempt to stop the rot.
The negative records just keep piling up for Schalke, who have now failed to win each of their last 36 Bundesliga away games (D10, L26). A 3-0 defeat to Frankfurt in their latest road trip saw them eclipse the unwanted record held by Karlsruher since 1981, further highlighting the rather deflated feeling around this once-great club.
Players to watch: Gladbachâs Lars Stindl became the first player at the club to contribute to at least two goals in three straight Bundesliga games (G3, A3) since Marco Reus back in 2011/12. Hoping to have a similarly prolific impact for Schalke is their deadline day loan signing Ăder Balanta. The Colombian midfielder has never been on the losing side when scoring across spells at River Plate, Basel and Brugge (W13, D2).
Hot streak: Gladbach have won all four of their home league games against the bottom-six sides ahead of the round.
