Bayer Leverkusen Union Berlin prediction 2023-11-12

Bayer Leverkusen vs Union Berlin prediction: GERMANY: Bundesliga betting tips on match 2023-11-11 14:30.
No team in Europe’s traditional top-five leagues can boast a start to the 2023/24 season as strong as Bayer Leverkusen, who are unbeaten after their first 16 matches in all competitions (W15, D1). Their relentless pace continued by staving off a Hoffenheim comeback to win 3-2 in the Bundesliga last weekend, before Die Werkself got “a bit lucky” in midweek according to boss Xabi Alonso, beating Qarabağ in the UEFA Europa League thanks to a 94th-minute penalty.

While that was an off night for their forwards, they don’t tend to have many at the BayArena where Leverkusen have won all seven home matches this term, rifling in 26 goals in the process. That’s certainly a good omen ahead of the visit of Union Berlin, as the pre-round Bundesliga leaders are unbeaten across all six H2Hs on home soil (W4, D2), netting 17 times in the process.

There aren’t many tougher trips in Europe at the moment, but Union do at least travel on a positive note after a midweek away draw against Napoli saw Die Eisernen snap a 12-game losing streak. Urs Fischer’s men were full of fight as they rescued a point at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona, providing some welcome relief to the boss and his beleaguered squad, even if their UEFA Champions League adventure is nearing its end.

Having failed to score in nine of those prior 12 losses, it’s clear to see where Union need to improve going forward. Escaping the Bundesliga relegation zone is now top of Fischer’s agenda, but as his side have lost eight on the spin in league action, including four in succession on the road, the travelling faithful likely won’t be too confident here.

Players to watch: The signing of Spanish wing-back Alejandro Grimaldo has proven a masterstroke, as he’s directly contributed to ten goals in his last 12 Leverkusen appearances (G7, A3). Another summer arrival netted the equaliser for Union in midweek, but David Datro Fofana is yet to score in nine Bundesliga appearances for the club.

Hot stat: Leverkusen are the only side to score in both halves in all ten of their Bundesliga matches so far this season.
