Bayern Munich vs Inter prediction: EUROPE: Champions League – Group Stage betting tips on match 2022-10-31 20:00.
All four positions are already rubber stamped in UEFA Champions League (UCL) Group C, with Bayern Munich already confirmed as group winners. While there may not be anything riding on this game positionally for Bayern, there’s a record within their reach, as they could become the first club in UCL history to win all six group games on three separate occasions after doing so in 2019/20 and 2021/22.
The visit of Inter Milan perhaps isn’t a timely one in search of that record given Bayern have never beaten the Italian giants in Munich (D1, L3), but having won their last 13 home group UCL games, that likely won’t play on their mind. It was a much familiar story at the weekend too, with a thumping 6-2 win against Mainz marking the fourth successive home game in which Bayern have won by at least four goals!
Inter had a resounding home win of their own at the weekend, beating Sampdoria 3-0 in Serie A to stretch their unbeaten run in all competitions to seven matches (W6, D1). Simone Inzaghi’s side are already assured of the runner-up spot in Group C, and now seek to improve upon a desperate run of five wins from their last 14 UCL away outings (D3, L6).
Despite their decent H2H record here, arresting that slide against this current Bayern side may be tricky with Inter boasting just six wins from their last 22 matches when pitted against German opposition. One of those victories was in the UCL final of 2010, and while another win would undoubtedly be well-received, even a draw would perhaps be welcome as it would extend Inter’s unbeaten UCL run to five matches and mark their longest run in the competition without defeat since 2010!
Players to watch: Bayern’s Sadio Mané was in the thick of the action with a goal and two assists at the weekend and his last two UCL goals have been game openers. Deputising as Romelu Lukaku works back to full fitness, Inter’s Edin Džeko lost six of his eight games against Bayern (W1, D1) whilst playing for Wolfsburg.
Hot stat: Bayern have won their last five home matches against Italian opponents, scoring at least twice in each.
