Bayern Munich RB Leipzig prediction 2024-02-24

Bayern Munich vs RB Leipzig prediction: GERMANY: Bundesliga betting tips on match 2024-02-23 17:30.
It has been a very poor February so far for Thomas Tuchel’s Bayern Munich, who have now lost three consecutive competitive games in a run described as like a “never-ending horror film,” by midfielder Leon Goretzka. Now behind in their UEFA Champions League tie and eight points off the Bundesliga peak ahead of the round, Tuchel will leave the German giants at the end of this campaign as disorder reigns in Bavaria.

Losing a Bundesliga title after their ongoing 11-season run of picking up the Meisterschale seems unthinkable, but it’s becoming a very real possibility this term, with Bayern needing to end a three-game winless run of league H2Hs against RB Leipzig (D2, L1) to keep pace with table-topping Bayer Leverkusen. Winning eight of their last nine home league games should boost Bayern hopes (W8, L1), especially seeing as the German juggernauts scored at least three times in seven of those victories.

Leipzig also lost their Champions League first leg, but they will probably be happier than their hosts with their recent league performances (W2, D1). Now ten points behind Bayern, the Red Bulls more importantly have a chance to provisionally move into the top-four with a victory here. Footballing matters paled into insignificance last weekend though, as a Leipzig fan tragically passed away in the stands before their 2-0 win over Gladbach.

One of the scorers in that game, Loïs Openda, was first to lead the tributes in the post-match interviews, and he now may hope to inspire his teammates to end a poor three-game winless run of away games (D2, L1). The Red Bulls interestingly scored five times across those winless games, which would hint their issue lies in defence. While that’s painful to Leipzig, it’s thrilling to the neutral, as their away league games this season have averaged 3.6 goals per game.

Players to watch: Thomas Müller scored in Bayern’s last Bundesliga win over Leipzig over two years ago and he impressively averages 0.58 goal contributions per league H2H (G3, A4). Openda opened the scoring in the 2-2 reverse draw, but only one of his most recent five goals served to break the deadlock.

Hot stat: Bayern have won just 46.7% of their all-time Bundesliga meetings with Leipzig (W7, D6, L2) – their lowest win rate against any current top-flight side.
