Birmingham Bristol City prediction 2022-10-08

Birmingham vs Bristol City prediction: ENGLAND: Championship betting tips on match 2022-10-07 14:00.
Birmingham’s four-game unbeaten Championship run (W2, D2) was halted by a 1-0 loss at Middlesbrough last time out, leaving them just three points above the relegation zone. Only two sides have scored less goals than Birmingham’s nine after 12 league games played, and a goal-shy forward line is likely a concern for boss John Eustace, who stated that his side “need to be better in the final third” after their latest defeat.

While the club’s takeover deal drags on, the Blues will want to fix some problematic form at St Andrew’s after succumbing to a four-game winless streak in home Championship matches (D2, L2), despite having the advantage of an extra player on two occasions. Visiting Bristol City may turn out to be something of a gift though, as Birmingham have won four of the five previous Championship H2Hs (L1) scoring 2+ goals in three of those victories.

In contrast, only two sides have let in more Championship goals than Bristol City (18) this term although they were able to shutout Coventry in last Tuesday’s goalless stalemate. That result halted a run of three straight losses which left boss Nigel Pearson compelling his side to “make up ground at the weekend.”

In order to do so, the visitors will have to improve their travelling form after losing their last two road trips. Neutral fans won’t be complaining however, as Bristol City’s last six away league games have seen goals at both ends, and with four of those matches also seeing the match opener arrive within 15 minutes, an entertaining start may be on the cards again here.

Players to watch: Troy Deeney has seen his last two goal contributions (G1, A1) help secure four league points, while he also assisted Birmingham’s first two goals in a 3-0 H2H win here last season. Meanwhile, Tommy Conway could lead the way for Bristol City after being their first scorer with his last four Championship strikes.

Hot stat: Only Luton Town have been winning more games at half-time than Bristol City (six) this league campaign.
