Blackburn vs Hull prediction: ENGLAND: Championship betting tips on match 2023-04-14 18:45.
The race for the coveted play-off spots was blown wide open over the Easter weekend, mostly due to Blackburn Rovers’ poor showing in extending their winless Championship run to three matches (D1, L2). Jon Dahl Tomasson’s men did at least show some fighting spirit last time out, breaking their two-game scoring drought to come from 2-0 down and draw 2-2 against Huddersfield thanks to an injury time equaliser.

Occupying the much sought-after sixth spot in the table prior to the weekend, but with three sides within touching distance, playing Hull City in the round's concluding fixture will see Blackburn’s spot come under serious threat before they even kick off. A positive start could prove to be season-defining here then, and it’s something Rovers have proven they’re capable of considering they’ve led at half-time a league-high 18 times this season.

Hull have been much more productive than their hosts recently, putting together a four-game unbeaten run (W1, D3) to alleviate any lingering relegation fears. That solitary win came in a tight 1-0 victory last time out against Millwall where manager Liam Rosenior made wholesale changes at half-time, a decision which ultimately paid off when one of his substitutes Adama Traoré netted the winner.

He’ll nonetheless be expecting a reaction after saying “what I saw in that first half I never ever want to see again”, and insisting he “will not accept anyone who does not put in 100%”. Rosenior clearly sounds fed up with the Tigers’ toothless starts to games this Championship season, as only Cardiff (five) have gone into half-time ahead less often than Hull’s tally of just seven.

Players to watch: Sammie Szmodics has scored the match winning goal with four of his six strikes this season, including in Blackburn’s 1-0 win in the reverse fixture. Hull will hope that Regan Slater continues his trend of scoring away from home, with all his nine career goals so far coming on the road.

Hot stat: Only one of the last 14 H2Hs has seen both teams score (Blackburn: W8, D2, L4).
